WE HAVE A NEW PRESIDENT

UPDATE: President Obama was elected on the promise of CHANGE. Wasn’t that what he said? And change from what? From the old ways to the news ways!!!!
Oh, ok. More transparency, he said? Yes, so does anybody know what happened to two TRILLION dollars? Nope.
Then he said “no more lobbyists in government”. Remember that? But then he says he has to violate his rule for now, not once but three times. Oh, ok.
Then, he says, there is a higher Standard for the people in Washington. Yea, right. So far so many of his appointees have had various ethical and moral problems from failure to pay taxes to lying on their tax returns to being under Federal investigations, that he has had to withdraw more of them than any president I can remember. EVERYTHING he said is now in question. And add to this a terrible stimulus pork barrel spending bill that is likely to create far more problems than it solves. I am really beginning to worry about our new President. Is he really up to the job? Does he really know what this country needs? I am really worried. Does anyone think the ACLU represents Americans??? They have too much to say about this administration. Let’s hope this does not turn out to have been a huge mistake for all of us.
And now we have another one. The guy President Obama is nominating as the #2 guy in the Justice Department!!! This guy has defended every kind of porn and child pornography case in this country. He has defended Playboy and Penthouse cases. He was behind the movement to print PLAYBOY in Braille so blind men could read it. He went to the Supreme Court to defend the principal that porn should be available on computers in our public schools and public libraries. I guess he thinks porn is good for kids in school. So bad is this guy, that the Senate took up a bill to stop his nonsense and voted 100-0 against his position! And now we nominate him as the #2 guy in the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT? Are you kidding me? Obama establishes a Faith-based mission and then sends this loser to head up our justice department? Give me a break, this is not going well. Not at all. At this very minute there is another breaking story (3-5-09) that another of his nominees – Hilda Solis – has a tax problem or at least her husband does. This week after her nomination, he settled a sixteen-year tax bill. After her nomination, so he did know about it all this time.
How many is this? I am losing count. You know I wrote the rest of this article three weeks ago, but I am beginning to think I should have waited. I won’t take it back yet, but I am getting close. Everything this administration has done so far has been highly questionable. It’s like they have no idea what they are doing. And every day, I like Speaker Pelosi less and less. I don’t think she has any idea what she is doing and if the press were honest, they would be all over her and our new President. How did Pelosi ever get her job? Wow. Our new President is getting off to a very bad start.
Okay, let’s get back to the article.
Let me start with a caveat: companies often hire professional spokespeople who are attractive and personable in order to sell inferior over-priced products. That’s because they know who people like to buy from. The same thing holds good in politics. The guys behind the scene know who can get the votes. So be wary. Not all that glitters is golden.
We have a new president. Fine. Let’s keep an open mind. (I am trying.) But also let’s keep our ears and eyes open. If he says things that smack of dictatorship, mind control, restriction of free speech, Marxism, private armies, or the indoctrination of children it would be well to raise your voice loudly against it or soon, you may not be able to. The loss of freedom has happened many times before in many countries and it will happen to us if we are not vigilant.
Along the way to the White House, our new President made many comments, many promises. I for one did not support him. I thought he was inexperienced, -unpatriotic, and disingenuous. His solutions as presented seemed more about rhetoric than plausibility. And why wouldn’t they? He has never run anything at all nor has he ever done much in the way of Senate legislation. What he has done well however, is what he still does well – he makes great speeches. It’s simply a matter of form over substance. Whether I was wrong or right remains to be determined. So far – February 5th 2009 – I am between and betwixt (as they say)\ meaning I am not really sure exactly who Barack Obama is or how successful he will be. So I will watch and listen and keep a somewhat open mind.
In particular though, there were a few statements by Senator Obama that seemed to define his ideas and ideals and with which I found myself in serious disagreement. I would like to touch on them for a moment.
The first involved the Born Infant Protection Act. This Act was meant to protect the life of infants that were born and are living despite an abortion attempt. Obama voted against the Infant Protection Act. Later he said he did that because there were already laws on the books protecting such infants but that isn’t true. If it were, they wouldn’t be performing this atrocious procedure on these babies letting them die after their birth. But they are.
Then he said he voted against it because he “did not want to force the mother to re-visit this difficult decision”. Now consider that. He didn’t want the mother to have to rethink her decision to end her pregnancy even though her baby was alive in the room next door to her – alive and being allowed to die. That upset me greatly. What kind of a society are we. I asked myself.
Obama’s next defining moment was when he said he “wanted to create a civilian security force, equal to and equally funded with the US Military”. What in the world did that mean? He wanted a private army loyal only to him? That reminded me of Hitler’s “SS”, Mao’s “Red Guard” and even Hussein’s “Red Army”. What despot doesn’t have his own “personal security guard” loyal only to him? Hell, African despots all have them so this seemed to me to be very un-American and very dangerous. And it still may be.
But since he is our president, I am going to lean over backward to give him a chance to prove he is a loyal American and that I misunderstood his intention in this matter. Scouring my brain for another explanation, I have come up with this one. It may be true or it may be false but for now, I will assume this is what he meant.
Black neighborhoods across this country are rife with murder. More kids have been killed in our inner city neighborhoods in the five years we have been at war than were killed in Iraq itself. That’s true. More kids were killed on our city streets than were killed in Iraq. And, our police seem incapable of doing anything about it. The murders just keep coming.
So maybe what President-elect Obama was referring to was a security force to work inside the inner cities to bring some sort of stabilization to those neighborhoods. Maybe an organization similar to the GUARDIAN ANGELS which for a time were a stabilizing force in many such neighborhoods in America. If that is what he meant, I can live with that. So I will wait and see how this picture plays out giving him the benefit of the doubt for the present time.
A final example of words that caught my attention occurred in his acceptance speech. For those of you not familiar with black rhetoric these past ten years, there has been a vocal group of African Americans who insist America did not start in 1776 but rather had its beginning in 1864 following the Emancipation Proclamation. Anything before then they insist, should be discarded and not taught in our schools. That time doesn’t count.
As to the founding fathers themselves, they said they are to be ignored and scorned because they were all ‘white slaveholders’. And with those disdainful, dismissive words, they wrote off the entire history of our country.
Yet, in his speech following his victory, Obama said:
“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.”
“The dream of our founders – “. Noticed the word “our”. He did not dismiss our founders nor did he diminish them. This was in stark contrast to the words of some of his more radical supporters. To me, that was meaningful and may in fact separate him from them. At least I hope so. If so, people like Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powel may replace people like Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright and we all will be better off for that. You see this often happen with professional ball players who simply outgrow their former friends and their influence so it could happen here to.
I do not pretend our country is perfect but neither do I need or want a President who is devoid of patriotism or sympathetic to foreign governments. America is still the best country on earth and our conduct around the world speaks to that fact.
Check out the histories of these other major countries. Great Britain (Colonialism), France (North Africa), Spain (Central and South America), Germany (Nazism), Russia (World Communism), Japan (China), China (Tibet and world communism) and even smaller countries like those in the Middle East or Cuba, Argentina and Venezuela and see who can honestly criticize anything we do. I say let those without sin cast the first stone. America has nothing to be ashamed of. And if you want to know why Germany, France and Russia did not join us in our battles in Iraq, there were two reasons: (1) they got most of Iraq’s oil and (2) they were in bed with Sadaam Hussein. It’s all about the money.
Recently, Obama’s comments have seemed to become more moderate and his first days in office have been much like those of Chief Executives before him. He seems to have moved away from the extreme left and more toward the center saying things like, “America does not live on the extreme left or the extreme right, but lives in the center.” I agree with that.
So, I am willing to give him a chance to grow into his new position. I will follow him closely and carefully note what he does and what he says and from that I will deduce what he feels and what he wants for our great country and I will react accordingly.
But I will not root for him to fail because it does no good for him to fail just to prove I – and others – were right in doubting him. Failure affects everyone and we don’t need that. Better for each of us and for all of us that he succeeds brilliantly proving that they who questioned him were wrong.
President-elect Obama has also discussed the economy and I have differed with him on that subject. I believe the root cause of the current worldwide economic crisis was the fault of the Democratic Party. Starting with Bill Clinton and the CRA, people like Jim Johnson, Franklin Raines, ACORN, Christopher Dodd, Barney Frank and others – all Democrats – encouraged lenders to make no-doc mortgage loans to people who could never hope to repay them. (No-doc means no documentation, no down payment, no work history and no credit checks). Others saw profit in subprimes, and built on the crisis but these were the people that created it and who then managed to lay it at the feet of the Bush Administration. Fine and that won the election for them. Now I wait to see if he can reverse the decline his party has caused and that we are all now dealing with. It won’t be easy.
As to jobs, jobs have left America because wages overseas are lower than wages in America and if a company wants to succeed on the world market, it has to match its competition in price. Therefore, if cheaper labor is available, they must utilize it. It’s a matter of survival. What we must do is find ways to encourage more American corporations to employ more Americans profitably but to do so, they are going to need help because market forces are against us.
In order to get American’s corporations to hire more American workers, the first thing you have to do is to help those corporations lower their own costs so they can afford to hire Americans. How do you do that? By helping those corporations who hire American workers, to lower their health costs. By tying the corporate tax rate to the number of American employees as a percentage a corporations world-wide employment. The more Americans they employ, the lower their corporate taxes will be.That and eliminating the capital gains tax so as to encourage more investment in business. That’s how to increase American jobs.
One more thing: the real reason we are losing those jobs is that Americans love to buy foreign goods and products because they’re cheaper. When they do that, they help put a fellow American out of work. Do they care? Not one bit. That is they don’t care until it affects them or their families. Then they care – a lot.
So look in the mirror folks, because it is you who are the root cause of American job loss. You who put GM and Ford and Chrysler out of business and all those highly paid American autoworkers on the street. Had you NOT purchased all those foreign cars, American workers would not have lost their jobs. What’s that you say? You like foreign products better? Oh you mean American workers – LIKE YOU – don’t do a very good job and foreign workers do a better job and for less money????
So there. You have just defined why we have lost so many jobs. You don’t have to blame George Bush or the Republican Party. Just look into a mirror. It is you who caused this job loss both because (1) you didn’t do a good job at your job and (2) you then bought products made in other countries because you thought foreign workers could do a better job than you do and for less money. In which case maybe you deserve to be out of work.
The fact is, were I the CEO of any one of the Big “3”, and looked out my window and saw a parking lot filled with foreign cars, I would have been furious. The people I pay to build my cars buy foreign cars? My memo would have read, “if you are unwilling to buy the cars that you build, go get a job at the company that builds the car that you are willing to buy.” What goes around comes around.
You have heard President-elect Obama say he is going to reverse this situation. But have you ever heard him say HOW he plans to do that? No, and you not about to because he doesn’t know how.
Well, me neither. But I can tell you this. What they are doing is forcing America into socialism. First he wants to own companies. Then he wants a national bank. Now this new stimulus package (welfare) is almost a trillion dollars. Well what kind of economic stimulus will this give us? What kind of jobs will all this money generate? And when?
Over the next two years, just 16% of this money will actually be spent with 3% going to the infrastructure. The other 84% not surprisingly will be spent in the election year of 2010. That’s two years from now. Two years with no appreciable help? I don’t call that an economic stimulus, I call that politics. Think that’s accidental? Think again.
Of the 750 billion dollars, 750 million is earmarked for contraceptives. What do contraceptives have to do with creating jobs? Nothing. They are lying to us already. They are sneaking their social agenda into the economic stimulus bill saying it will reduce health care costs in the long run. Now that’s a new one. Don’t have babies and you will save health care costs later on. Think of where that philosophy can take us. If we don’t have babies, we won’t have health care cost for mothers. If we don’t have crimes, we won’t have to spend the money on the justice system. If we don’t have wars, we can abolish our military. The savings are endless.
Look, California is now bankrupt. Yet state officials want to add useless controls over emissions and also control what kinds of cars can be sold in their state which will end up adding thousands of dollars to the state budget and to the cost of cars. The government is already way too intrusive into the life of Californians. It’s like they know best – but they don’t. Look at what they have done so far. Brought the state to the edge of bankruptcy.
California has spent money like water. The state has invited illegal immigrants to come there to live (Sanctuary Cities) and promised free medical care for them and their children. They have also promised free education for all their residents no matter if they are taxpayers or not, no matter if they are citizens or not, no matter who they are. And when they did this, they predictably ran out of money. What did they do then? They asked us – the taxpayer – to bail them out. They want to do what they want to do and then have us pick up the tab.
What in the world is that all about? When people don’t know how to run a business, they go broke. When a state government doesn’t know how to run the state, let them go broke. Sometimes Democrats act like children. (Oh by the way, the last three Illinois governors to end up in jail were all Democrats. Maybe Richardson, Democratic Governor of New Mexico will join them. Democrats have certainly been in a lot of trouble lately – governors, congressmen and congresswomen, judges, presidential candidates, presidents, party leaders – lots of bad conduct going on. You might say there is a long list of democrats that have made ‘asses’ of themselves.)
By the way, once again the dips in California have voted to ban off-shore oil drilling. They want to save the environment Don’t come to me for money, Governor. When you ban oil drilling in the USA you force us to spend hundreds of billions of dollars buying oil from foreign sources. OUR money goes to THEM so you can protect YOUR idea of the environment. Good, then pay your own bills. It’s only a short time before you are no longer part of the USA anyway just in case you haven’t noticed. The handwriting is on the wall.
President Obama said today that he is going to fund EPA to fight global warming. Here we go again. What global warming is that? Anybody with eyes can see our problem now is long term global cooling as was predicted back in 1975 by the same consensus of climate specialists. Who is Obama listening to, Al Gore? Gore just raised 300 million to fight warming – and to continue to lead his very nice lifestyle, in his very nice plane, flying to and from his very nice mansion. Is greed behind this scam. (Don’t you love the way “public servants” are all rich? Think that’s why they want to ‘serve us’ so bad? And in case you don’t know it, there are more rich Democratic US Senators than Republicans. They may love all your poor folks but they love you from their boats, cars, planes and mansions. There’s one born every second.)
Pretty soon I am sure they will add more stimulus money for wind power. And why? Because Nancy Pelosi is the biggest investor in T. Boone Picken’s wind farm, that’s why I call that an earmark. It never ends. (Did you know Pickens and the Kennedy’s objected to wind farms on or near their properties because they are an “eye sore”? Well, they did.)
Look of course we have extremely hot climates and extreme cool climates. We call that weather and it’s regional not global. Global mans “all over the globe at the same time”. If we have a ‘global recession’ that means the whole globe is suffering from it. Sometimes the degree is different depending on circumstances but the whole globe is involved. Not recession in one country and prosperity in another, that’s normal.
All over at the same time, that’s global. And we have no global warming. If you don’t believe me about that, read this:

Sound like global warming to you? Look around the world. Record breaking low temperatures all over the place. Snow where it hasn’t snowed for 40 years. Temperatures plunging. Do we have periods of extreme heat? Sure we do. It’s called weather. PS if the sun’s solar activity doesn’t get into gear between now and 2011, you’ll hear a lot more about cooling and a lot less about warming. So, who’s kidding who – and why? That’s easy, just follow the money.
If they continue wasting so much of our money, the economy may never bounce back. We will go bankrupt. But they don’t seem to realize that. In act, lots of Democrats point to the spending in the New Deal as a model for spending your way out of a depression. They act like FDR’s spending programs cured the depression. Well, it didn’t. If anything, FDR’s programs prevented this country from recovering as quickly as they rest of the world recovered. In America, there were still 20% unemployed in 1940, and that was eight years after the recession started.
What ended our depression was not Roosevelt but World War II. That and 12 million kids drafted and taken off the employment roles opening up those jobs for others, is what cured unemployment. That’s what finally ended the depression. The out of control spending of the New Deal did more long-term harm than good and if we duplicate that wasteful nonsense, what happened then will happen again. We will be in this mess for years and years.
The President said today that any infrastructure jobs created by his stimulus package will go first to the poor (blacks) and then to immigrants (mainly Hispanics). He hinted that Whites need not apply. That’s another bright move in a country where 68% of the people are White Caucasians and 82% are demographically listed as “White”. This also doesn’t make much sense to me but up to now, nothing this congress has done makes any sense. I really wonder if they truly know what they are doing.
Look President Obama is black and I assume he sees America from a slightly different perspective than some of do. Fine. And it is likely from what he said that he plans to do as much as he can to life his people up – to give them a bigger piece of the pie And that’s alright with me too. It’s good to have an advocate in the White House. But – and it’s a big but – he can’t just sit down and start paying the bills for American blacks. If they think he can, they are sadly mistaken. Whet Obama has to do and what responsible black leaders have to do, is stop blaming everyone else for their miseries and get their kids to stay in school. That’s the way everyone else gets ahead, they work for it. If blacks think whites get everything handed to them, they need to think again. Whites have to work for what they get and if they don’t, they end up on the short end of the stick, like it or not
America is a land of great opportunity. Lots of blacks – like lots of whites – are born in poverty and work their way out. Black kids can have better lives, can get out of those bad neighborhoods, can get their share of the good life is they will just stay in school and learn. That’s what separates those who have from those who have not. We can not all be processional entertainers, or professional athletes, or movie stars. Most of us – the vast majority of us – have to work for a living. What you do, how much you make is all up to you. The entrance door to the good life is the same door that opens into your school. Black leaders need to start leading and stop enabling their people to do less and complain more. That is the road to ruin.
All we can do is hope. President Obama said today “we can’t afford distractions”. What’s that supposed to mean, anyone with a contrary opinion is distracting the government? Is this a first step to shutting off contrary opinions? A not-so-gentle first restriction on free speech? Go along with the program or you are distracting us?
The President also has made comments about closing Gitmo. And the liberals cheer because they feel the legal rights of the terrorists were not protected under the Bush Administration. These people must live in gated communities.
Nevertheless, if we do release any of those terrorists, we better know what we are going to do with them because so far, no one wants them and no one has agreed to take them. Except al Queda, they want them bad.
If President Obama releases them, he is sending trained killers who hate us back to al Queda with one purpose: to come back and hurt us. It will be too late to say “I’m sorry” if something bad happens as did not happen in the past seven years under George Bush but happened repeatedly around the world under Bill Clinton. (WTC, USS COLE, BERUIT etc., etc.) Bush knew very well that it is far better to be safe than sorry. Obama may have to learn that lesson the hard way. He’d better steer clear of those people over at ACLU before they get a lot of us killed dead.
Obama’s health care proposals may also be a problem. Most of them seem to be rather simplistic. They are basically nothing other than nationally socialized medicine and believe me that will be no picnic either. In fact, none of Obama’s so-called solutions to any of our big problems makes much sense for America.
Still, I want to give him the chance to prove me wrong. So I will do that. I intend to read and listen and watch and see what President Obama can do for our economy and our health care and our job loss and terrorism and what he can do about our so-called worldwide reputation. I will judge him by the results.
You know, thanks to the American newspapers and their political bias, most Americans didn’t appreciate George Bush. But they should and they would if the media weren’t such liberal phonies. You may not realize it, but drawing al Queda into Iraq to confront us was a stroke of genius. Before that, al Queda was a loosely knit organization spread out all over the place so we couldn’t strike them. Hell, we didn’t know where they were. But once they moved into Iraq, everything changed. And for the better.
Suddenly, al Queda was where we could find them, where we could attack them, where we could destroy them. Which is what we did for six years. We decimated al Queda’s leadership and made them use all their financial resources and battered them so they could never gather enough strength to come here. So, there were no attacks on the US or our allies around the world. We had seven calm years around the world in exchange for beating al Queda’s brains in day after day in Iraq. It was a hell of a trade-off, actually a brilliant strategy. Lure them out into the open and then hit them hard. That’s what we did and the results were terrific.
Thank you, George. Some of your fellow Americans are too dumb to realize it, but you really did a great job at protecting us as history will record. Let’s hope President Obama can do as well.
During the Clinton year, the exact opposite happened. Democrats were very ineffective in protecting Americans from terrorist attacks in America and around the world; hence, lots of attacks occurred and lots of people died. Not only was the WTC bombed when Clinton was in office, but there were half a dozen major attacks on American interests that ending in the deaths of Americans and American allies. Clinton’s program to protect us was weak and ineffective where George Bush’s program was strong and very effective. All you have to do is look at the results.
In the meantime, Obama won – maybe not so fairly but he won – so he gets his chance. The 100-day Honeymoon will begin January 22, 2009. Until then, let’s watch closely and see who he aligns himself with, and whether ACORN excesses are still prosecuted. That will tell us a lot about our new President.
I ask the question, who exactly is Barack Obama really? Is he the product of the left that helped elect him? Is he the guy that sat in that Black Liberation Church and listened to all those hate-America speeches for twenty years? Who hung out with pentagon-bomber William Ayers? Is that the real Obama? Or is it possible that what he was doing was just trying to get elected? Doing what was expected of him in that time and place to get those people to vote for him? If so, how much of any of this represents what he truly believes inside? Do you know? Does anyone know?
It might turn out that Obama actually might not prioritize the right or the left or even the center. Maybe he will just do the job he was elected to do for all Americans and then do wherever he can to help those people he feels have been disadvantaged in America and in the world – the Black race. That may be where his true priorities are. We don’t know because we have no experience with a Black President to fall back on.
There are those like myself, who were convinced that Senator Obama was a radical liberal with a far left political philosophy. And he still might be. He may want to move America in the direction preferred by people like George Soros and his Moveon.Org., or the ACLU and liberal media like the NY Times and the Washington Post and even the sadistic Huffington Post. He may be – but then, maybe not.
It could be that this President is going to surprise a lot of people on both sides of the political spectrum. He may not be buying either side 100%. You remember during the campaign when he talked about sending eighty-five billion dollars in aide to Africa. I guess he was ordered to stop saying that during the campaign because I didn’t hear it again but he did say it and somehow I think he did mean it. I would bet he hasn’t forgotten it.
Today, Africans Christians are under horrendous attack. African and Arab Muslims are slaughtering them at an alarming rate. The murders approach genocide. I think our new President is appalled at that and wants to stop the violence. I think that goal may be a high priority to him. I am not suggesting that he is not going to attend to America’s problems. What I am suggesting is that maybe he won’t be part of the white left or the white right but may actually govern from the center to build a consensus that will enable him to do other things that he sees as important.
Because his father’s extended family is Muslim, I for one worried about Obama’s connection to Islam. Islam is a violent religion. It is in fact, a major danger in this world. This danger was best described by the greatest man of the last century – Winston Churchill. Read his words that I have reprinted here and when you are done, read them again and remember, this warning comes from one of the most perspective and courageous men in world history and he didn’t speak them lightly. If President Obama turns out to feel kinship for the Muslims in Africa, we have made a terrible mistake. And we will pay for that mistake. But I don’t think that’s the case. I did once but I don’t now. Rather, I think we will see him use all in his power, whatever tools he has at his disposal as President, to stop the bloodshed in Africa and then to try to elevate the cause of blacks – both in America and in Africa – wherever he can. And, if he can, he will use your tax dollars to accomplish that goal. In the meantime, he will stay in the American political center as President of all the people tending to what he sees as the problems of all the people.
If as President, he can affect a major change in the quality of life for blacks in this country and in Africa, he might actually affect a change in the course of civilization. I say this because an alliance between a Christian Mexico, a greatly strengthened non-Muslim Africa, and an America where all its citizens share it its prosperity would be a hard combination to beat. It could change the future of the world dramatically.
Am I right? Is this the real Barack Obama? A Black man who has become President and who will now use his bully pulpit to help those he most closely identifies with? I don’t know. Perhaps I am being too optimistic about him and he will revert to being just another politician. And a left wing politician at that. It could happen but I hope not. In the mean time, all we can do is wait and watch and then react accordingly.
So that’s what I am going to do. Watch and wait and hope.
Note: My hope isn’t lasting long. As I was publishing this article, it was announced that Obama had given his first international press conference and that to an Arab TV network. The explanation was that: The interview underscored Obama’s commitment to repair relations with the Muslim world that have suffered under the previous administration. That’s funny – “under the previous administration” -
Like these aren’t the same Muslims that bombed us and our friends around the world when Clinton was in office – the same Muslims that have been terrorists for decades. Obama is trying to repair relations damaged by George Bush? Who’s kidding whom?

Obama’s Message to Muslims Called ‘Pathetic’
In his interview with a Saudi-owned TV channel on Tuesday, President Barack Obama referred to “an illusionary past” in the Muslim world that was in fact plagued by turmoil, a leading Middle Eastern expert declared.
Amir Taheri, in a New York Post column headlined “Pathetic Message,” said Obama “looked to the past rather than the future” when he told an Al-Arabiya interviewer he wanted a return to “the same respect and partnership that America had with the Muslim world as recently as 20 or 30 years ago.”
But 30 years ago, Taheri noted, American diplomats were being held hostage in Iran, Soviet troops were seeking to annex Afghanistan, Saddam Hussein was preparing to invade Iran, Saudi Arabia was under siege by Muslim militants, and Syrian troops were preparing to invade Lebanon.
Iranian-born Taheri, whose books include “Holy Terror: Inside the World of Islamic Terrorism,” wrote in the Post that “other features of this ‘golden age’” were “the seizure of power by mullahs in Tehran, the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, the coming to power of communists in the Horn of Africa, the military coup in Turkey, the first Islamist terror attacks in Algeria, unprecedented waves of repression in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and the imposition of military rule in Pakistan.”
Twenty years ago saw the U.S. arming the Mujahedin in Afghanistan, Iraq gassing thousands of Kurds and preparing to invade Kuwait, Iranian mullahs arming Hezbollah units in Lebanon, Turkey launching all-out attacks on Kurdish secessionists, and the Libyan terror network killing American soldiers in Europe and blowing up U.S. jets.
Meanwhile Obama offered only “trite” remarks regarding the Israeli-Palestinian issue, and did not offer any support “to democratic forces facing crucial elections in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, Egypt and Algeria,” observed Taheri, who has written for more than two dozen publications around the world.
“Nor was there any nod toward reformers in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.”
Obama sought to portray himself as a “bridge” between the U.S. and the Muslim world, according to Taheri, who added: “Casting himself in the role of a ‘bridge’ and dreaming of a return to an illusionary past, Obama appeared unsure of his own identity and confused about the role that America should play in global politics.”

UPDATE: President Obama was elected on the promise of CHANGE. Wasn’t that what he said? And change from what? From the old ways to the news ways!!!!
Oh, ok. More transparency, he said? Yes, so does anybody know what happened to two TRILLION dollars? Nope.
Then he said “no more lobbyists in government”. Remember that? But then he says he has to violate his rule for now, not once but three times. Oh, ok.
Then, he says, there is a higher Standard for the people in Washington. Yea, right. So far so many of his appointees have had various ethical and moral problems from failure to pay taxes to lying on their tax returns to being under Federal investigations, that he has had to withdraw more of them than any president I can remember. EVERYTHING he said is now in question. And add to this a terrible stimulus pork barrel spending bill that is likely to create far more problems than it solves. I am really beginning to worry about our new President. Is he really up to the job? Does he really know what this country needs? I am really worried. Does anyone think the ACLU represents Americans??? They have too much to say about this administration. Let’s hope this does not turn out to have been a huge mistake for all of us.
And now we have another one. The guy President Obama is nominating as the #2 guy in the Justice Department!!! This guy has defended every kind of porn and child pornography case in this country. He has defended Playboy and Penthouse cases. He was behind the movement to print PLAYBOY in Braille so blind men could read it. He went to the Supreme Court to defend the principal that porn should be available on computers in our public schools and public libraries. I guess he thinks porn is good for kids in school. So bad is this guy, that the Senate took up a bill to stop his nonsense and voted 100-0 against his position! And now we nominate him as the #2 guy in the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT? Are you kidding me? Obama establishes a Faith-based mission and then sends this loser to head up our justice department? Give me a break, this is not going well. Not at all. At this very minute there is another breaking story (3-5-09) that another of his nominees – Hilda Solis – has a tax problem or at least her husband does. This week after her nomination, he settled a sixteen-year tax bill. After her nomination, so he did know about it all this time.
How many is this? I am losing count. You know I wrote the rest of this article three weeks ago, but I am beginning to think I should have waited. I won’t take it back yet, but I am getting close. Everything this administration has done so far has been highly questionable. It’s like they have no idea what they are doing. And every day, I like Speaker Pelosi less and less. I don’t think she has any idea what she is doing and if the press were honest, they would be all over her and our new President. How did Pelosi ever get her job? Wow. Our new President is getting off to a very bad start.
Okay, let’s get back to the article.
Let me start with a caveat: companies often hire professional spokespeople who are attractive and personable in order to sell inferior over-priced products. That’s because they know who people like to buy from. The same thing holds good in politics. The guys behind the scene know who can get the votes. So be wary. Not all that glitters is golden.
We have a new president. Fine. Let’s keep an open mind. (I am trying.) But also let’s keep our ears and eyes open. If he says things that smack of dictatorship, mind control, restriction of free speech, Marxism, private armies, or the indoctrination of children it would be well to raise your voice loudly against it or soon, you may not be able to. The loss of freedom has happened many times before in many countries and it will happen to us if we are not vigilant.
Along the way to the White House, our new President made many comments, many promises. I for one did not support him. I thought he was inexperienced, -unpatriotic, and disingenuous. His solutions as presented seemed more about rhetoric than plausibility. And why wouldn’t they? He has never run anything at all nor has he ever done much in the way of Senate legislation. What he has done well however, is what he still does well – he makes great speeches. It’s simply a matter of form over substance. Whether I was wrong or right remains to be determined. So far – February 5th 2009 – I am between and betwixt (as they say)\ meaning I am not really sure exactly who Barack Obama is or how successful he will be. So I will watch and listen and keep a somewhat open mind.
In particular though, there were a few statements by Senator Obama that seemed to define his ideas and ideals and with which I found myself in serious disagreement. I would like to touch on them for a moment.
The first involved the Born Infant Protection Act. This Act was meant to protect the life of infants that were born and are living despite an abortion attempt. Obama voted against the Infant Protection Act. Later he said he did that because there were already laws on the books protecting such infants but that isn’t true. If it were, they wouldn’t be performing this atrocious procedure on these babies letting them die after their birth. But they are.
Then he said he voted against it because he “did not want to force the mother to re-visit this difficult decision”. Now consider that. He didn’t want the mother to have to rethink her decision to end her pregnancy even though her baby was alive in the room next door to her – alive and being allowed to die. That upset me greatly. What kind of a society are we. I asked myself.
Obama’s next defining moment was when he said he “wanted to create a civilian security force, equal to and equally funded with the US Military”. What in the world did that mean? He wanted a private army loyal only to him? That reminded me of Hitler’s “SS”, Mao’s “Red Guard” and even Hussein’s “Red Army”. What despot doesn’t have his own “personal security guard” loyal only to him? Hell, African despots all have them so this seemed to me to be very un-American and very dangerous. And it still may be.
But since he is our president, I am going to lean over backward to give him a chance to prove he is a loyal American and that I misunderstood his intention in this matter. Scouring my brain for another explanation, I have come up with this one. It may be true or it may be false but for now, I will assume this is what he meant.
Black neighborhoods across this country are rife with murder. More kids have been killed in our inner city neighborhoods in the five years we have been at war than were killed in Iraq itself. That’s true. More kids were killed on our city streets than were killed in Iraq. And, our police seem incapable of doing anything about it. The murders just keep coming.
So maybe what President-elect Obama was referring to was a security force to work inside the inner cities to bring some sort of stabilization to those neighborhoods. Maybe an organization similar to the GUARDIAN ANGELS which for a time were a stabilizing force in many such neighborhoods in America. If that is what he meant, I can live with that. So I will wait and see how this picture plays out giving him the benefit of the doubt for the present time.
A final example of words that caught my attention occurred in his acceptance speech. For those of you not familiar with black rhetoric these past ten years, there has been a vocal group of African Americans who insist America did not start in 1776 but rather had its beginning in 1864 following the Emancipation Proclamation. Anything before then they insist, should be discarded and not taught in our schools. That time doesn’t count.
As to the founding fathers themselves, they said they are to be ignored and scorned because they were all ‘white slaveholders’. And with those disdainful, dismissive words, they wrote off the entire history of our country.
Yet, in his speech following his victory, Obama said:
“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.”
“The dream of our founders – “. Noticed the word “our”. He did not dismiss our founders nor did he diminish them. This was in stark contrast to the words of some of his more radical supporters. To me, that was meaningful and may in fact separate him from them. At least I hope so. If so, people like Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powel may replace people like Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright and we all will be better off for that. You see this often happen with professional ball players who simply outgrow their former friends and their influence so it could happen here to.
I do not pretend our country is perfect but neither do I need or want a President who is devoid of patriotism or sympathetic to foreign governments. America is still the best country on earth and our conduct around the world speaks to that fact.
Check out the histories of these other major countries. Great Britain (Colonialism), France (North Africa), Spain (Central and South America), Germany (Nazism), Russia (World Communism), Japan (China), China (Tibet and world communism) and even smaller countries like those in the Middle East or Cuba, Argentina and Venezuela and see who can honestly criticize anything we do. I say let those without sin cast the first stone. America has nothing to be ashamed of. And if you want to know why Germany, France and Russia did not join us in our battles in Iraq, there were two reasons: (1) they got most of Iraq’s oil and (2) they were in bed with Sadaam Hussein. It’s all about the money.
Recently, Obama’s comments have seemed to become more moderate and his first days in office have been much like those of Chief Executives before him. He seems to have moved away from the extreme left and more toward the center saying things like, “America does not live on the extreme left or the extreme right, but lives in the center.” I agree with that.
So, I am willing to give him a chance to grow into his new position. I will follow him closely and carefully note what he does and what he says and from that I will deduce what he feels and what he wants for our great country and I will react accordingly.
But I will not root for him to fail because it does no good for him to fail just to prove I – and others – were right in doubting him. Failure affects everyone and we don’t need that. Better for each of us and for all of us that he succeeds brilliantly proving that they who questioned him were wrong.
President-elect Obama has also discussed the economy and I have differed with him on that subject. I believe the root cause of the current worldwide economic crisis was the fault of the Democratic Party. Starting with Bill Clinton and the CRA, people like Jim Johnson, Franklin Raines, ACORN, Christopher Dodd, Barney Frank and others – all Democrats – encouraged lenders to make no-doc mortgage loans to people who could never hope to repay them. (No-doc means no documentation, no down payment, no work history and no credit checks). Others saw profit in subprimes, and built on the crisis but these were the people that created it and who then managed to lay it at the feet of the Bush Administration. Fine and that won the election for them. Now I wait to see if he can reverse the decline his party has caused and that we are all now dealing with. It won’t be easy.
As to jobs, jobs have left America because wages overseas are lower than wages in America and if a company wants to succeed on the world market, it has to match its competition in price. Therefore, if cheaper labor is available, they must utilize it. It’s a matter of survival. What we must do is find ways to encourage more American corporations to employ more Americans profitably but to do so, they are going to need help because market forces are against us.
In order to get American’s corporations to hire more American workers, the first thing you have to do is to help those corporations lower their own costs so they can afford to hire Americans. How do you do that? By helping those corporations who hire American workers, to lower their health costs. By tying the corporate tax rate to the number of American employees as a percentage a corporations world-wide employment. The more Americans they employ, the lower their corporate taxes will be.That and eliminating the capital gains tax so as to encourage more investment in business. That’s how to increase American jobs.
One more thing: the real reason we are losing those jobs is that Americans love to buy foreign goods and products because they’re cheaper. When they do that, they help put a fellow American out of work. Do they care? Not one bit. That is they don’t care until it affects them or their families. Then they care – a lot.
So look in the mirror folks, because it is you who are the root cause of American job loss. You who put GM and Ford and Chrysler out of business and all those highly paid American autoworkers on the street. Had you NOT purchased all those foreign cars, American workers would not have lost their jobs. What’s that you say? You like foreign products better? Oh you mean American workers – LIKE YOU – don’t do a very good job and foreign workers do a better job and for less money????
So there. You have just defined why we have lost so many jobs. You don’t have to blame George Bush or the Republican Party. Just look into a mirror. It is you who caused this job loss both because (1) you didn’t do a good job at your job and (2) you then bought products made in other countries because you thought foreign workers could do a better job than you do and for less money. In which case maybe you deserve to be out of work.
The fact is, were I the CEO of any one of the Big “3”, and looked out my window and saw a parking lot filled with foreign cars, I would have been furious. The people I pay to build my cars buy foreign cars? My memo would have read, “if you are unwilling to buy the cars that you build, go get a job at the company that builds the car that you are willing to buy.” What goes around comes around.
You have heard President-elect Obama say he is going to reverse this situation. But have you ever heard him say HOW he plans to do that? No, and you not about to because he doesn’t know how.
Well, me neither. But I can tell you this. What they are doing is forcing America into socialism. First he wants to own companies. Then he wants a national bank. Now this new stimulus package (welfare) is almost a trillion dollars. Well what kind of economic stimulus will this give us? What kind of jobs will all this money generate? And when?
Over the next two years, just 16% of this money will actually be spent with 3% going to the infrastructure. The other 84% not surprisingly will be spent in the election year of 2010. That’s two years from now. Two years with no appreciable help? I don’t call that an economic stimulus, I call that politics. Think that’s accidental? Think again.
Of the 750 billion dollars, 750 million is earmarked for contraceptives. What do contraceptives have to do with creating jobs? Nothing. They are lying to us already. They are sneaking their social agenda into the economic stimulus bill saying it will reduce health care costs in the long run. Now that’s a new one. Don’t have babies and you will save health care costs later on. Think of where that philosophy can take us. If we don’t have babies, we won’t have health care cost for mothers. If we don’t have crimes, we won’t have to spend the money on the justice system. If we don’t have wars, we can abolish our military. The savings are endless.
Look, California is now bankrupt. Yet state officials want to add useless controls over emissions and also control what kinds of cars can be sold in their state which will end up adding thousands of dollars to the state budget and to the cost of cars. The government is already way too intrusive into the life of Californians. It’s like they know best – but they don’t. Look at what they have done so far. Brought the state to the edge of bankruptcy.
California has spent money like water. The state has invited illegal immigrants to come there to live (Sanctuary Cities) and promised free medical care for them and their children. They have also promised free education for all their residents no matter if they are taxpayers or not, no matter if they are citizens or not, no matter who they are. And when they did this, they predictably ran out of money. What did they do then? They asked us – the taxpayer – to bail them out. They want to do what they want to do and then have us pick up the tab.
What in the world is that all about? When people don’t know how to run a business, they go broke. When a state government doesn’t know how to run the state, let them go broke. Sometimes Democrats act like children. (Oh by the way, the last three Illinois governors to end up in jail were all Democrats. Maybe Richardson, Democratic Governor of New Mexico will join them. Democrats have certainly been in a lot of trouble lately – governors, congressmen and congresswomen, judges, presidential candidates, presidents, party leaders – lots of bad conduct going on. You might say there is a long list of democrats that have made ‘asses’ of themselves.)
By the way, once again the dips in California have voted to ban off-shore oil drilling. They want to save the environment Don’t come to me for money, Governor. When you ban oil drilling in the USA you force us to spend hundreds of billions of dollars buying oil from foreign sources. OUR money goes to THEM so you can protect YOUR idea of the environment. Good, then pay your own bills. It’s only a short time before you are no longer part of the USA anyway just in case you haven’t noticed. The handwriting is on the wall.
President Obama said today that he is going to fund EPA to fight global warming. Here we go again. What global warming is that? Anybody with eyes can see our problem now is long term global cooling as was predicted back in 1975 by the same consensus of climate specialists. Who is Obama listening to, Al Gore? Gore just raised 300 million to fight warming – and to continue to lead his very nice lifestyle, in his very nice plane, flying to and from his very nice mansion. Is greed behind this scam. (Don’t you love the way “public servants” are all rich? Think that’s why they want to ‘serve us’ so bad? And in case you don’t know it, there are more rich Democratic US Senators than Republicans. They may love all your poor folks but they love you from their boats, cars, planes and mansions. There’s one born every second.)
Pretty soon I am sure they will add more stimulus money for wind power. And why? Because Nancy Pelosi is the biggest investor in T. Boone Picken’s wind farm, that’s why I call that an earmark. It never ends. (Did you know Pickens and the Kennedy’s objected to wind farms on or near their properties because they are an “eye sore”? Well, they did.)
Look of course we have extremely hot climates and extreme cool climates. We call that weather and it’s regional not global. Global mans “all over the globe at the same time”. If we have a ‘global recession’ that means the whole globe is suffering from it. Sometimes the degree is different depending on circumstances but the whole globe is involved. Not recession in one country and prosperity in another, that’s normal.
All over at the same time, that’s global. And we have no global warming. If you don’t believe me about that, read this:

Many sources of data that provide our knowledge base of long-term climate change indicate that the warm, twelve thousand year-long Holocene period will rather soon be coming to an end, and then the earth will return to Ice Age conditions for the next 100,000 years.”
Sound like global warming to you? Look around the world. Record breaking low temperatures all over the place. Snow where it hasn’t snowed for 40 years. Temperatures plunging. Do we have periods of extreme heat? Sure we do. It’s called weather. PS if the sun’s solar activity doesn’t get into gear between now and 2011, you’ll hear a lot more about cooling and a lot less about warming. So, who’s kidding who – and why? That’s easy, just follow the money.
If they continue wasting so much of our money, the economy may never bounce back. We will go bankrupt. But they don’t seem to realize that. In act, lots of Democrats point to the spending in the New Deal as a model for spending your way out of a depression. They act like FDR’s spending programs cured the depression. Well, it didn’t. If anything, FDR’s programs prevented this country from recovering as quickly as they rest of the world recovered. In America, there were still 20% unemployed in 1940, and that was eight years after the recession started.
What ended our depression was not Roosevelt but World War II. That and 12 million kids drafted and taken off the employment roles opening up those jobs for others, is what cured unemployment. That’s what finally ended the depression. The out of control spending of the New Deal did more long-term harm than good and if we duplicate that wasteful nonsense, what happened then will happen again. We will be in this mess for years and years.
The President said today that any infrastructure jobs created by his stimulus package will go first to the poor (blacks) and then to immigrants (mainly Hispanics). He hinted that Whites need not apply. That’s another bright move in a country where 68% of the people are White Caucasians and 82% are demographically listed as “White”. This also doesn’t make much sense to me but up to now, nothing this congress has done makes any sense. I really wonder if they truly know what they are doing.
Look President Obama is black and I assume he sees America from a slightly different perspective than some of do. Fine. And it is likely from what he said that he plans to do as much as he can to life his people up – to give them a bigger piece of the pie And that’s alright with me too. It’s good to have an advocate in the White House. But – and it’s a big but – he can’t just sit down and start paying the bills for American blacks. If they think he can, they are sadly mistaken. Whet Obama has to do and what responsible black leaders have to do, is stop blaming everyone else for their miseries and get their kids to stay in school. That’s the way everyone else gets ahead, they work for it. If blacks think whites get everything handed to them, they need to think again. Whites have to work for what they get and if they don’t, they end up on the short end of the stick, like it or not
America is a land of great opportunity. Lots of blacks – like lots of whites – are born in poverty and work their way out. Black kids can have better lives, can get out of those bad neighborhoods, can get their share of the good life is they will just stay in school and learn. That’s what separates those who have from those who have not. We can not all be processional entertainers, or professional athletes, or movie stars. Most of us – the vast majority of us – have to work for a living. What you do, how much you make is all up to you. The entrance door to the good life is the same door that opens into your school. Black leaders need to start leading and stop enabling their people to do less and complain more. That is the road to ruin.
All we can do is hope. President Obama said today “we can’t afford distractions”. What’s that supposed to mean, anyone with a contrary opinion is distracting the government? Is this a first step to shutting off contrary opinions? A not-so-gentle first restriction on free speech? Go along with the program or you are distracting us?
The President also has made comments about closing Gitmo. And the liberals cheer because they feel the legal rights of the terrorists were not protected under the Bush Administration. These people must live in gated communities.
Nevertheless, if we do release any of those terrorists, we better know what we are going to do with them because so far, no one wants them and no one has agreed to take them. Except al Queda, they want them bad.
If President Obama releases them, he is sending trained killers who hate us back to al Queda with one purpose: to come back and hurt us. It will be too late to say “I’m sorry” if something bad happens as did not happen in the past seven years under George Bush but happened repeatedly around the world under Bill Clinton. (WTC, USS COLE, BERUIT etc., etc.) Bush knew very well that it is far better to be safe than sorry. Obama may have to learn that lesson the hard way. He’d better steer clear of those people over at ACLU before they get a lot of us killed dead.
Obama’s health care proposals may also be a problem. Most of them seem to be rather simplistic. They are basically nothing other than nationally socialized medicine and believe me that will be no picnic either. In fact, none of Obama’s so-called solutions to any of our big problems makes much sense for America.
Still, I want to give him the chance to prove me wrong. So I will do that. I intend to read and listen and watch and see what President Obama can do for our economy and our health care and our job loss and terrorism and what he can do about our so-called worldwide reputation. I will judge him by the results.
You know, thanks to the American newspapers and their political bias, most Americans didn’t appreciate George Bush. But they should and they would if the media weren’t such liberal phonies. You may not realize it, but drawing al Queda into Iraq to confront us was a stroke of genius. Before that, al Queda was a loosely knit organization spread out all over the place so we couldn’t strike them. Hell, we didn’t know where they were. But once they moved into Iraq, everything changed. And for the better.
Suddenly, al Queda was where we could find them, where we could attack them, where we could destroy them. Which is what we did for six years. We decimated al Queda’s leadership and made them use all their financial resources and battered them so they could never gather enough strength to come here. So, there were no attacks on the US or our allies around the world. We had seven calm years around the world in exchange for beating al Queda’s brains in day after day in Iraq. It was a hell of a trade-off, actually a brilliant strategy. Lure them out into the open and then hit them hard. That’s what we did and the results were terrific.
Thank you, George. Some of your fellow Americans are too dumb to realize it, but you really did a great job at protecting us as history will record. Let’s hope President Obama can do as well.
During the Clinton year, the exact opposite happened. Democrats were very ineffective in protecting Americans from terrorist attacks in America and around the world; hence, lots of attacks occurred and lots of people died. Not only was the WTC bombed when Clinton was in office, but there were half a dozen major attacks on American interests that ending in the deaths of Americans and American allies. Clinton’s program to protect us was weak and ineffective where George Bush’s program was strong and very effective. All you have to do is look at the results.
In the meantime, Obama won – maybe not so fairly but he won – so he gets his chance. The 100-day Honeymoon will begin January 22, 2009. Until then, let’s watch closely and see who he aligns himself with, and whether ACORN excesses are still prosecuted. That will tell us a lot about our new President.
I ask the question, who exactly is Barack Obama really? Is he the product of the left that helped elect him? Is he the guy that sat in that Black Liberation Church and listened to all those hate-America speeches for twenty years? Who hung out with pentagon-bomber William Ayers? Is that the real Obama? Or is it possible that what he was doing was just trying to get elected? Doing what was expected of him in that time and place to get those people to vote for him? If so, how much of any of this represents what he truly believes inside? Do you know? Does anyone know?
It might turn out that Obama actually might not prioritize the right or the left or even the center. Maybe he will just do the job he was elected to do for all Americans and then do wherever he can to help those people he feels have been disadvantaged in America and in the world – the Black race. That may be where his true priorities are. We don’t know because we have no experience with a Black President to fall back on.
There are those like myself, who were convinced that Senator Obama was a radical liberal with a far left political philosophy. And he still might be. He may want to move America in the direction preferred by people like George Soros and his Moveon.Org., or the ACLU and liberal media like the NY Times and the Washington Post and even the sadistic Huffington Post. He may be – but then, maybe not.
It could be that this President is going to surprise a lot of people on both sides of the political spectrum. He may not be buying either side 100%. You remember during the campaign when he talked about sending eighty-five billion dollars in aide to Africa. I guess he was ordered to stop saying that during the campaign because I didn’t hear it again but he did say it and somehow I think he did mean it. I would bet he hasn’t forgotten it.
Today, Africans Christians are under horrendous attack. African and Arab Muslims are slaughtering them at an alarming rate. The murders approach genocide. I think our new President is appalled at that and wants to stop the violence. I think that goal may be a high priority to him. I am not suggesting that he is not going to attend to America’s problems. What I am suggesting is that maybe he won’t be part of the white left or the white right but may actually govern from the center to build a consensus that will enable him to do other things that he sees as important.
Because his father’s extended family is Muslim, I for one worried about Obama’s connection to Islam. Islam is a violent religion. It is in fact, a major danger in this world. This danger was best described by the greatest man of the last century – Winston Churchill. Read his words that I have reprinted here and when you are done, read them again and remember, this warning comes from one of the most perspective and courageous men in world history and he didn’t speak them lightly. If President Obama turns out to feel kinship for the Muslims in Africa, we have made a terrible mistake. And we will pay for that mistake. But I don’t think that’s the case. I did once but I don’t now. Rather, I think we will see him use all in his power, whatever tools he has at his disposal as President, to stop the bloodshed in Africa and then to try to elevate the cause of blacks – both in America and in Africa – wherever he can. And, if he can, he will use your tax dollars to accomplish that goal. In the meantime, he will stay in the American political center as President of all the people tending to what he sees as the problems of all the people.
If as President, he can affect a major change in the quality of life for blacks in this country and in Africa, he might actually affect a change in the course of civilization. I say this because an alliance between a Christian Mexico, a greatly strengthened non-Muslim Africa, and an America where all its citizens share it its prosperity would be a hard combination to beat. It could change the future of the world dramatically.
Am I right? Is this the real Barack Obama? A Black man who has become President and who will now use his bully pulpit to help those he most closely identifies with? I don’t know. Perhaps I am being too optimistic about him and he will revert to being just another politician. And a left wing politician at that. It could happen but I hope not. In the mean time, all we can do is wait and watch and then react accordingly.
So that’s what I am going to do. Watch and wait and hope.
Note: My hope isn’t lasting long. As I was publishing this article, it was announced that Obama had given his first international press conference and that to an Arab TV network. The explanation was that: The interview underscored Obama’s commitment to repair relations with the Muslim world that have suffered under the previous administration. That’s funny – “under the previous administration” -
Like these aren’t the same Muslims that bombed us and our friends around the world when Clinton was in office – the same Muslims that have been terrorists for decades. Obama is trying to repair relations damaged by George Bush? Who’s kidding whom?
Give me a break.

Obama’s Message to Muslims Called ‘Pathetic’
In his interview with a Saudi-owned TV channel on Tuesday, President Barack Obama referred to “an illusionary past” in the Muslim world that was in fact plagued by turmoil, a leading Middle Eastern expert declared.
Amir Taheri, in a New York Post column headlined “Pathetic Message,” said Obama “looked to the past rather than the future” when he told an Al-Arabiya interviewer he wanted a return to “the same respect and partnership that America had with the Muslim world as recently as 20 or 30 years ago.”
But 30 years ago, Taheri noted, American diplomats were being held hostage in Iran, Soviet troops were seeking to annex Afghanistan, Saddam Hussein was preparing to invade Iran, Saudi Arabia was under siege by Muslim militants, and Syrian troops were preparing to invade Lebanon.
Iranian-born Taheri, whose books include “Holy Terror: Inside the World of Islamic Terrorism,” wrote in the Post that “other features of this ‘golden age’” were “the seizure of power by mullahs in Tehran, the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, the coming to power of communists in the Horn of Africa, the military coup in Turkey, the first Islamist terror attacks in Algeria, unprecedented waves of repression in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and the imposition of military rule in Pakistan.”
Twenty years ago saw the U.S. arming the Mujahedin in Afghanistan, Iraq gassing thousands of Kurds and preparing to invade Kuwait, Iranian mullahs arming Hezbollah units in Lebanon, Turkey launching all-out attacks on Kurdish secessionists, and the Libyan terror network killing American soldiers in Europe and blowing up U.S. jets.
Meanwhile Obama offered only “trite” remarks regarding the Israeli-Palestinian issue, and did not offer any support “to democratic forces facing crucial elections in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, Egypt and Algeria,” observed Taheri, who has written for more than two dozen publications around the world.
“Nor was there any nod toward reformers in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.”
Obama sought to portray himself as a “bridge” between the U.S. and the Muslim world, according to Taheri, who added: “Casting himself in the role of a ‘bridge’ and dreaming of a return to an illusionary past, Obama appeared unsure of his own identity and confused about the role that America should play in global politics.”
