After reviewing psychological articles on the subject, the consensus appears to be that over the age of 50, aging boomers and seniors should concentrate fitness activities on exercises that improve balance, coordination, posture, movement, and flexibility. And the consensus of experts seem to agree that one of the safest ways for aging boomers and seniors to stay fit is through deep water workouts that can help alleviate the elderly problems of being out of shape without stressing joints.

Psychological articles say that many baby boomers prefer low-impact forms of exercises which do not involve high levels of exertion and provide beneficial results without negative effects. Foremost among such activities is walking and swimming or water aerobics. Adhering to an exercise routine is of the utmost importance in both elderly problemsof disease prevention and recovery. Aging boomers and seniors can easily have their lives restricted and marred by back pain, arthritis, poor circulation, heart ailments, diabetes, and orthopedic conditions; hence water exercises are a great solution as they benefit the body without harming joints. Keeping fit and agile can also ensure a speedy recovery from elderly problems of injuries, accidents, and surgeries.

Psychological articles reveal that group activities and sports such as bowling, volleyball, and golf have added benefits in decreasing elderly problems as they provide both physical activity as well as socialization outlets. Another baby boomer favorite that is great for keeping fit are cardiovascular workouts which help burn fat and keep the heart strong and healthy. Maintaining a healthy weight through cardiovascular workouts will help decrease manyelderly problems by lowering cholesterol and cleaning the body of unhealthy arterial plaque.

Strength training is another baby boomer and senior fitness must, as it builds muscle mass and improves bones, thus reducing the elderly problems of osteoporosis. Here are a few exercise tips from which baby boomers and seniors can benefit:

1. First, always remember to seek the advice of your health care practitioner before beginning any exercise program.
2. Always warm up and stretch before working out as cold muscles can be easily injured causing other elderly problems.
3. Keep a regular exercise time, and don’t overdo it. Remember that baby boomers and seniors can benefit from simple routines such as walking a dog, working in the garden, or parking the car far from the supermarket and walking to the store.
4. Purchase good exercise equipment, and before embarking on a new sport, take a lesson. Proper training or lessons prevent the chances of injuries, stress fractures and other potential elderly problems. This includes replacing worn out treads, sneakers or other old equipment.
5. Aging and elderly problems reduce agility and flexibility. Therefore it is best to modify physical activity to accommodate the specific needs of your body.
6. Always graduallyincrease the level of your physical activity. A good rule of thumb is to increase intensity approximately 10% per week to prevent injuries and other elderly problems., and add new exercises carefully.
7. Have a balanced fitness program with multiple exercises meeting the needs of your body.

Physical fitness is essential to prevent and fight against elderly problems, therefore investing in an effective fitness program can provide great benefits for baby boomers and booming seniors.

Elderly Problems: Dangers of Falling

Elderly Problems: Dangers of Falling

Psychological Article on Elderly Problems

By Boomeryearbook.com

Falling down stairs can be a risk to everyone, but for aging baby boomers and seniors, when bones and muscle tone are weakening, it can be a devastating event. Psychological articles state that thousands die in the US alone from falling down stairs with many more thousands seriously injured. All this occurs in the confines of one’s home and usually when heavy objects are taken up or brought down stairs. Aside from carrying heavy objects, objects left lying on stairs are an equally common contributor to falls. Poor lighting, bad carpeting and lack of support in the form of hand rails also present elderly problems that exacerbate the risk of falling.

Among the many injuries that can occur, broken hips are the most frequently reported elderly problem, that results from a fall, and it can have terrible long term consequence especially for the elderly. Psychological articles inform us that one third of aging boomers and seniors die from a fall resulting in a broken hip, and only one third returns to their previous level of fitness. Aside from physical injuries, the damage to a person’s self-confidence and psychological well-being are equally important elderly problems that can be the consequence of a baby boomer or seniors falling. Additonally, as the aging baby boomers population increases, the elderly problem of falling will become an even greater societal problem.

The following precautions can be of crucial importance to avoid this elderly problem:

• All objects that you can possibly trip on should be removed, especially from stairs.
• Carpets, rugs and objects that can cause you to skid should be avoided.
• Items used frequently should be reachable without ladders or step stools.
• Safety bars should be installed in all appropriate places; such as showers and stairs.
• Use mats with rubber surfaces to avoid slipping.
• A well lit home helps visibility and switches should be placed on the top and bottom of stairs.
• Shoes should have good ankle support and non-slip soles.
• Spills on floors or stairs should be cleaned quickly.
• Hand rails should be placed on both sides of the stair case.
Aside from the above precautions, the basic reason why a person becomes more prone to falling must be addressed; i.e. a weakening or deteriorating body. Moderate but regular exercise such as Tai Chi should be regularly practices to maintain balance, muscle tone, and coordination and to help strengthen joints and muscles.

Simply by being more conscious of your environment and learning not to take your health for granted can help aging baby boomers avoid situations that may make you prone to falling and subsequent injuries. Regular vision and other health checkups are also essential in avoiding hazards, and always ask your health care practitioner which medications may make you drowsy or feel unbalanced. We at Boomer Yearbook believe an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Elderly Problems: Aging Baby Boomers & the Legal System

Elderly Problems: Aging Baby Boomers & the Legal System

Psychological Articles on Elderly Problems

By Boomeryearbook.com

Some legal elderly problems are common to all older adults as they are part and parcel of what we must deal with as we age. Thus, if you are an aging baby boomer or senior citizen you are likely to be facing one or many of the following legal problems:

Private pensions

Obtaining private pensions might involve numerous regulations which baby boomers may well find difficult to pursue. Additionally, insufficient private pensions may add to boomers financial elderly problems especially for an economically challenged baby boomer in need of financial assistance.

Wills and probate

Designing a Will can present problems as it involves complex regulations and difficult legal terms. Engaging an efficient attorney for assistance might prove useful to the baby boomer or older adult who feels overwhelmed or not competent to handle this legal issue.

Guardianship and conservator-ship

Baby boomers and older individuals are unfortunately frequently subjected to the elderly problems of age discrimination, neglect, guardianship complications, and ill or insufficient medical and mental health treatment. The issues related to guardianship are complex and difficult to understand, and may require extensive time and energy if not dealt with properly. One resource the baby boomer or aging senior can use to help with this issue is the Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act which can aid in reducing confusion and conflict as well as providing clear guardianship guidelines.

Law related decision-making mechanisms

Many baby boomers and seniors find the laws and regulations of public programs to be overly complex, and may cause elderly problems as this population may not understand the legal system well enough to know their rights in a particular situation. For instance, an elderly problem may be lack of ability to handle one’s appeal without expert help. Legal and bureaucratic jargon can also be very difficult to understand. Additionally, attorneys can be expensive, and legal aid does not always provide the best resources for baby boomers and the elderly problems they face as not all attorneys have sufficient knowledge of this growing population of persons. Therefore it is quite difficult for the boomer or elderly to find an efficient attorney to assist them in law related decision making mechanisms and can pose serious mental and economic elderly problems.

Excessive drug use and health services

Health related issues are a major elderly problem, such as loss of quality and quantity of sleep, heart disease and dozens of other physiological disorders. Boomers are increasing facing the elderly problem of drug misuse and abuse. It therefore is important that baby boomers and seniors are aware and avail themselves of government health benefits and corresponding legal rights.

Problems related to Government Benefits

Retirement places the aging baby boomer in a new economic position and changes occur with relationship to governmental bodies and administrative bureaucracy. Adjusting to this role of dependency fostered by reliance on government benefits can create emotional, legal, and financial elderly problems. Boomers may face problems related to legal entitlement, or the loss of income might lead to a foreclosure or other residential complications which might force the need for government benefits. Baby Boomers and aging seniors need to explore and understand the legal ramifications of government eligibility rules to gain legal benefits and resolve this elderly problem.

As an aging baby boomer you are entitled to community guidance programs to help obtain professional assistance in securing social and governmental benefits, in Will preparation, and other legal issues that can help you avoid or resolve some elderly problems.

Baby Boomers Impact on Public Library

Boomers, Seniors and Children at Public Library

Psychological Article on Elderly Problems

By Boomeryearbook.com

Are you a retiring baby boomer looking for alternative interests and awareness? Do you want a good recreational avocation to ward off elderly problems? Then do not worry, as a public library can help fill the bill and allow you to make great use of your time. Today, more and more baby boomers are rediscovering public libraries as a post retirement avenue of enjoyment. Many psychological articles have confirmed that baby boomers are known for consuming, disseminating, and promulgating a love of reading and knowledge and thus retiring boomers have been pumping new energy into museums and library systems.

Boomers’ desire to defend against elderly problems has had a positive influence on libraries and museums which are rapidly becoming attractive hotspots for retiring boomers’ individual as well as communal enjoyment. Thus librarians are working hard to find ways to understand the needs of retiring boomers and to maximize the library experience such as updating library services to ensure they are timely, accessible, and relevant to the highly educated baby boomers seeking their resources. Psychological articles have stated that many public libraries are therefore undertaking regular assessment of their services in order to make amendments that will satisfy and accommodate boomer needs.

New York's Public Library Reading Room

New York's Public Library Reading Room

One great example of services is North Shore Public Library, Roslyn, New York) that has now “gone wireless” and encourages boomers to bring their computers to upgrade their “Boomer Connection” organized with the help of NPL staff. This is just one of many library programs that give boomers the resources that provide opportunities to learn, work, and have social interaction. These programs cater to baby boomers informational needs, yet can be enjoyed by the entire community, bringing neighborhoods together, and alleviating elderly problemsof isolation and lack of contact.

Similarly, Equal Access Libraries, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2003, goes “beyond business as usual” and trains librarians and staff in how to be community-responsive by pioneering innovative programs and functionality to meet the needs of Baby Boomers and older adults, health consumers, and youth between the ages 10-18. New York Public Library is an Equal Access Library that has enacted programs to assess the needs of targeted boomers and now they are working hard to address their specific requirements of this burgeoning group of people. California State Library has also taken an initiative to serve boomers. Their “Transforming Life After 50” program endeavors to target and attract retiring boomers by aiming to inspire boomers towards library innovation and resolution of elderly problems. They are employing new language, strategies, and approaches to satisfy the baby boomers needs and provide resources and opportunities to the retiring baby boomer generation.

Furthermore, the Americans for Libraries Council are training people to develop new strategies to ensure that libraries meet the needs of the aging baby boomer generation. They are also hoping that this training model will be mutually beneficial; helping boomers as well as boosting library and book industry business. According to this training program the nation’s libraries will be upgraded with enhanced services for baby boomers and older persons, offering them chances for active learning, exploration, and social engagement.

In order to be effective in meeting the needs of baby boomers and older adults the library directors and creative program designers must understand that primary needs and motivations of the generation; for instance, seeking library resources to gain information about new careers opportunities, as well as leisure activities and information. According to psychological articles, art, culture, and genealogy programs seem very attractive drawing cards for boomers and older adults to seek library services. At the end of the day, we humans are social beings, and libraries can be extremely useful in helping resolve many elderly problems by providing entertainment, knowledge, resources, learning, healthy escape, and social interaction.

Impact of Baby Boomers in US History

Baby Boomers Impact and Elderly Problems

Baby Boomers Impact and Elderly Problems

Psychological Article:Baby Boomers Impact and Elderly Problems

By Boomeryearbook.com

If you are a Baby Boomer then you can take credit for impacting society and rejecting what was formerly considered the traditional accepted mores. It is well documented in psychological articles that baby boomers gave birth to new values and enjoy the status of being the healthiest and the wealthiest of any US generation. But like other generations baby boomers have also incurred some elderly problems. The first and the foremost of which is aging. Remember, however, that we are not alone!, and a large majority of boomers born in 1950s are experiencing similar elderly problems. But since boomers think of ourselves as special and different from our predecessors, it is therefore difficult for some of us to admit to elderly problems or to even believe we are ready to retire.

The baby boomer children of the 1960s liked rock music, alternative hair and clothing styles, and changing the social scene of their parents by enjoying ‘free love’, championing equality, and experimenting with drug use. However, this was not without consequences as some excessive drug use has lead to current boomer elderly problems; as aging biological systems are not equipped to handle years of misuse. Additionally, on the plus side, the seventies were witness to many boomer activists who supported the Civil Rights and the Rights of Women movements, resulting in thousands of women and minorities securing job opportunities, proudly culminating in the first US black President, qualifying for the right to higher education, accepting homosexuality and other alternative lifestyles that have changed the political and social fabric by introducing new social and political values of equality, rights and opportunities.

In the 1980s the boomers continued their wave of social change as more boomers than any other prior group divorced, and reintroduced themselves into the dating scene; with some suffering deleterious elderly problems such as abusing alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, and other drugs. In the Nineties the Baby Boomers moved towards their 40s and midlife crises along with the advent of what became pervasive elderly problems derived from unprotected sexual activities and drug abuse such as Herpes, HIV/AIDS, and Hepatitis C.

May of the activities and philosophies the baby boomers harbingered in, have continued to play prominent present day society roles, with some injurious effects. For instance, psychological articles have informed us that the current US divorce rate has caused numerous psychological and physiological elderly problems such as loneliness and feelings of isolation and disconnect, with boomers attempting to seek solace in unprotected sexual and drug activities resulting in a high rise of STDs and drug and alcohol related elderly problems. But on the brighter side, boomers continue to influence politics and society as Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and many congressional and judiciary members are proud baby boomers.

The baby boomers represent 26.75% of the US population. They have greatly impacted the government’s social security programs as they play a dominant role in US economics and have high expectations for government services. According to psychological articles, 55% of baby boomers voted in the 2000 elections, and 59% of baby boomers voted in the current Presidential election. Additionally, boomers have contributed to increasing the literacy rate in the US as baby boomers enjoy the highest education levels of any US demographic group. Although fast approaching the elderly problem of retirement, boomers are still the privileged class of the US society and will be influential in shaping America’s future.

Baby Boomers Appear to Be Less Healthy Than Our Parents

Psychological Article on Baby Boomers: Comparing Health of Boomers to Elderly Problems of older Generations

Psychological Article on Baby Boomers: Comparing Health of Boomers to Elderly Problems of older Generations

Psychological Article on Elderly Problems

By Boomeryearbook.com

Lifestyles change as do the variables that we use to gauge that change. Health is correlated to the increase or decrease of sickness, the single variable by which we judge the most important aspect of a person’s lifestyle. But sickness or health is closely related to one’s state of mind, manner of working, social and family structures. That is why psychological articles have stated that in spite of regular gym attendance, avoiding smoking or red meat and following the general prescriptions for a healthier lifestyle, baby boomers are ending up less healthy than their parents.

This is largely attested by the fact that high cholesterol, heart ailments, blood pressure and diabetes have a higher prevalence among the baby boomer age group than their parents’ generation. The prime cause lies in a number of unhealthy trends, first and foremost of which is an increasingly obese and overweight population. Such weight problems exist in two thirds of the population and causes high blood pressure, more wear and tear on joints, diabetes, and other associated problems. Despite better understanding of health problems, baby boomers are less physically active as their work is mostly sedentary in nature and we hardly ever voluntarily walk, take the stairs, or do routine physical movements. This has caused baby boomers to physically deteriorate, in spite of better access to health care.

This data presented in numerous psychological articles is more surprising considering that baby boomers are more likely to have attended college thereby being more educated than their parents. However, this has not resulted in everyone having a healthier lifestyle. This correlation has been misunderstood primarily because physical health hasn’t been linked with psychological well being. Work stress coupled with more processed food and sedentary lifestyles have been major culprits. Therefore, nagging elderly problems have become common and often develop into serious illness if not rectified early.

Another interesting factor highlighted in psychological articles contributing to elderly problems that show baby boomers to be less healthy than their parents is changing family structures and social norms, for example, a working women today doesn’t have an extended family to help raise a new born child, or any help and support in a emotional crisis. This causes stress and pressures that were previously dealt with through family support, and has reached acute proportions for boomers juggling two jobs, raising kids and helping with grandkids, and delivering on other commitments. The major effects of such a change are on the elderly problem of the emotional well being of a population that has not yet devised mechanisms to resolve such issues.

The consequences of reduced health and chronic disease will be a constant headache for policy makers in the years to come. The brighter side is that we baby boomers are well familiar with the fact that statistics can be deceptive. While psychological articles tell us that baby boomers are not as healthy as our parents were, it may well be that as diagnostic procedures become more sophisticated, baby boomers are benefiting from earlier diagnosis that were not previously detectable; thereby getting healthcare at an early stage. Moreover, life expectancy has steadily risen over the decades; seemingly discrediting the psychological articles that say today’s baby boomers are less healthy than their parents were at the same age.

It’s an interesting debate. We at BoomerYearbook belive knowledge is power. We’d love to hear what you think.

Scurvy-Like Vitamin C Deficiency: The Real Culprit in Heart Attack?

Friday, May 1st, 2009
Psychological Article on Elderly Problems: Vitamin C and Heart Health

Psychological Article on Elderly Problems: Vitamin C and Heart Health

By Joey for Boomeryearbook.com

Unlike most other living creatures, the human body does not manufacture collagen; and Collagen is what the body needs to repair blood vessels.

Repeated episodes of stress causes arteries to expand (flushed face when you are angry or upset) and then contract. Done too frequently (frequent stress points), this leads eventually to cracked and weakened arteries.

The brain does not like cracked arteries which threaten its existence so it rushes to repair those cracks. For this, it needs copious amounts of collagen.

Since, unlike most species, humans do not manufacture their own collagen, when faced with an emergency such as an artery which is weakening, and knowing it can’t wait until the host has a few oranges etc., the body grabs a substitute from its all-purpose repair kit. The repair tool it grabs is plaque. The body repairs arterial cracks with plaque. Since that plaque is then found at the site of a failed or collapsed artery, doctors were quick to decide plaque causes heart attacks. But this is not true.

In 2002, researchers at the University of North Carolina found that vitamin C deficiency “severely compromises collagen deposition and induces a type of plaque morphology that is potentially vulnerable to rupture.” In other words, the cause of most heart attacks is vitamin C deficient stress, which over over time causes arteries to become weak (repeated expansion and retraction) and then collapse. If the body had a sufficient supply of natural collagen, it could do the necessary repair work correctly instead of using plaque but since it doesn’t, it can’t.

The purpose of all this is to tell you that all adults, beginning around age 30, should begin adding Vitamin “C” to their diets on a daily basis. Since Vitamin “C” can only be absorbed at a rate of about 500 mg an hour (give or take a little), people need to take 500 mg Vitamin “C” tablets scattered through the day at least one hour apart. For most adults if taken regularly about 2,000 mg daily is fine give or take a little. But since collagen is not retained in the body, it needs to be replenished regularly. Now this:

“And here’s the shocker . . .

This Scurvy-Like Vitamin C Deficiency Could
Be the Real Cause of Heart Disease

and so on………

Yes, lack of Vitamin C is the culprit.

We at Boomer Yearbook believe knowledge is power and will continue to bring you updates on this important subject.

Baby Boomers Letter to President Obama

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Pres. Obama's Apology Tour

17, 2009

The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Mr. Obama:

I have had it with you and your administration, sir. Your conduct on your recent trip overseas has convinced me that you are not an adequate representative of the United States of America collectively or of me personally.

You are so obsessed with appeasing the Europeans and the Muslim world that you have abdicated the responsibilities of the President of the United States of America. You are responsible to citizens of the United States. You are not responsible to the peoples of any other country on earth.

I personally resent that you go around the world apologizing for the United States telling Europeans that we are arrogant and do not care about their status in the world. Sir, what do you think the First World War and the Second World War were all about if not the consideration of the peoples of Europe? Are you brain dead? What do you think the Marshall Plan was all about? Do you not understand or know the history of the 20th century?

Baby Boomers Letter to Pres. Obama

Baby Boomers Letter to Pres. Obama

Where do you get off telling a Muslim country that the United States does not consider itself a Christian country? Have you not read the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution of the United States? This country was founded on Judeo-Christian ethics and the principles governing this country, at least until you came along, come directly from this heritage. Do you not understand this?

Your bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia is an affront to all Americans. Our President does not bow down to anyone, let alone the king of Saudi Arabia. You don’t show Great Britain, our best and one of our oldest allies, the respect they deserve yet you bow down to the king of Saudi Arabia. How dare you, sir! How dare you!

You can’t find the time to visit the graves of our greatest generation because you don’t want to offend the Germans but make time to visit a mosque in Turkey. You offended our dead and every veteran when you give the Germans more respect than the people who saved the German people from themselves. What’s the matter with you?

I am convinced that you and the members of your administration have the historical and intellectual depth of a mud puddle and should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you.

You are so self-righteously offended by the big bankers and the American automobile manufacturers yet do nothing about the real thieves in this situation, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank, Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelic, the Fannie Mae bonuses, and the Freddie Mac bonuses. What do you intend to do about them? Anything? I seriously doubt it.
What about the U.S. House members passing out $9.1 million in bonuses to their staff members – on top of the $2.5 million in automatic pay raises that lawmakers gave themselves? I understand the average House aide got a 17% bonus. I took a 5% cut in my pay to save jobs with my employer.. You haven’t said anything about that. Who authorized that? I surely didn’t!

Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210 million in bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that’s $45 million more than the AIG bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executives have already been awarded $51 million – not a bad take. Who authorized that and why haven’t you expressed your outrage at this group who are largely responsible for the economic mess we have right now.

I resent that you take me and my fellow citizens as brain-dead and not caring about what you idiots do. We are watching what you are doing and we are getting increasingly fed up with all of you. I also want you to know that I personally find just about everything you do and say to be offensive to every one of my sensibilities. I promise you that I will work tirelessly to see that you do not get a chance to spend two terms destroying my beautiful country.

Sincerely,

How Baby Boomers can eliminate Elderly Problems

How Baby Boomers can eliminate Elderly Problems

Psychological Article on Elderly Problems

By Boomeryearbook.com

If you are one of the thousands of baby boomers soon to be retiring then you are among those of us facing the issue of needing fulfilling leisure activities. You may feel anxiously challenged by foreseeing elderly problems like illness, loneliness and limited social activity and unnerved by the setbacks of aging; But, if retirement issues are leaving you wondering what to do next, Do not worry! Environmental issues can provide abundant and rewarding labors. For instance, the threat of global warming as well as recycling and other environmental campaigns can easily provide hours of social and leisure enjoyment. All you need to eliminate this elderly problem is the right amount of motivation and a clear direction of the type of cause for which you feel passionate and desirous of helping.

As we are all aware, our current world is facing acute environmental problems of climate change. The carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere had dangerously increased and is causing drastic, unhealthy climate changes. Well Baby Boomers! We can help by running awareness campaigns and informing people of the many ways we can save our planet by decreasing carbon emissions. These campaigns can keep us retired baby boomers busy in creative promotion of the environmental cause and thus we can easily assuage our fears of impending elderly problems.

Working for Wild Life preservation can be another innovative activity for a retiring baby boomer facing the elderly problem of boredom. There are hundreds of thousands of endangered species who need protection and natural reserves in order for us to prevent their extinction. Baby Boomers can thus eliminate the elderly problem of feelings of uselessness by raising funds to support a wild life preservation cause. Additionally, another way to eradicate the elderly problem of boredom is if providing time and energy towards building and maintenance of animals and natural reserves. These activities will engage us baby boomers in healthy activities; thus driving away elderly problems of feeling invisible and futile.

Today’s society is well aware that projected Global Warming can have adverse effects on both human and animal life. It can change the geographical boundaries on earth by converting deserted land into sea and fertile lands into barren deserts. The over all temperature of our planet has already risen by 0.76 C since 1850 and is still on the rise. This can facilitate the extinction of many plant and animal species. One way to alleviate an elderly problem for the financially secure baby boomer is to help facilitate global warming awareness and support the cause through personal financial aid or by raising donations for this noble cause.

Some baby boomers have found a solution to their elderly problems in encore jobs that have purpose and can bring meaning and satisfaction. AN AMERICAN TALE

Friday, May 1st, 2009

byb-democrat-spending1

By: Joseph J Kusnell for Boomeryearbook.com

Harden County, Oregon, not long ago was one of Oregon’s richest counties. As a top logging town, it had the world’s largest pine mill and provided a lot of lumber and a lot of local jobs.

But the all-but-ridiculous environmentalists found that logging endangered the spotted owl and so, they lobbied to close the mill down.

Today, Harden County is bankrupt. Its unemployment rate is 25%. Families have had to move to find work elsewhere. The trees now grow under protection of the Federal Government. The spotted owls are thriving.

But –

The formerly largest pine mill in the world is closed and rotting away.

The men who used to work here can’t find work anywhere.

Logging in the American west is down 60% with a ton of lost jobs.

But America still need lumber (as we need oil). So we need to get that lumber somewhere (as we do oil). So where do we get it?

We import it from other countries.

Where do they get it?

They cut down their forests for it.

Do they have spotted owls in their forests?

Who knows.

Does anyone in these countries care?

I guess not.

Do we have to pay for the lumber we import?

Sure. We pay a lot of money for it.

Do these countries make money by selling their lumber to us?

Of course they do. It’s a thriving business way up in the past twenty years.

Is that because we stopped cutting down our own trees?

Yes, certainly.

Does that increase employment in those countries?

Yes, it does.

Does that increase unemployment in our country?

Yes, it does.

So they are doing great and we are doing poorly, right?

That’s right.

But our spotted owls are happy while theirs are not, right?

Right. Their owls are miserable, but ours party every night.

What about their people?

They party every night because they have jobs.

And ours?

We have nothing to party for, so we are miserable.

Join the party. One of the gravest dangers to America today are the environmentalists. They are thoroughly out of touch with reality yet somehow,

they stay in power. And – of course – they are all democrats.

They fiddle as America burns.

This is the result of having too many Democrats in power. All these wackos belong to the Democratic Party. I would love to track them down and ask them if they eat chicken? Or ever enjoy a nice steak or sausage or bacon with their eggs?

What about leather that comes from the hide of animals? Have any of that around the house in things like shoes, bags, belts, pocketbooks, or wallets? And what about the medication they use? Was any of that medication developed at the expense of certain animals in laboratories? If they answer yes to any of these questions, then they are disingenuous at best and phonies at worst. We need to get rid of them.

It is not too late to stop this destruction of America. In 2010 you can save your country but returning checks and balances to your government: Vote Republican – restore balance to both houses so they can’t get away with what they are trying to do. If you don’t, you will have to live with the result. And so will your children and so will your grandchildren – and I can assure you, you won’t like it very much.

A lot of lives were lost creating the best country the world has ever known. It would be a shame to see it destroyed by this crowd.
