“HERE COMES SARAH!”

By Joseph J Kusnell

This race has just begun!!!

Sarah has had MINIMAL positive exposure so far thanks to the liberal leftist media. She has taken their biggest hits and is still standing!!! I liken it to a prize fighter who gets hit constantly in the first two rounds but stays on his feet. His opponent is going to be shocked to learn that the fight is far from over. In fact, today’s polls show a surprising story. Sarah’s popularity is growing not diminishing.

Today is not 2012. That’s a long way from now. Sarah has three years to make her case, hit the campaign trail, build political bridges etc. She needs money certainly but to underrate her would be the liberals most serious mistake. And I think they know that which is why they are hitting her so hard. Wait until she begins hitting back aT their weaknesses. This battle has barely begun.

I don’t know if Governor Palin can make it all the way to the top but I don’t have to know that today. For today, I know she is a growing power in politics, that she has 20 million supporters who need to give her a few dollars each to work with in 2010, that she has energy, youth, brains, experience and she is the antithesis of all those East coast Marxist jerks we can’t stand. And a lot of other Americans also can’t stand.
She is a refreshing change.

Republicans are just 23% of the vote. Blue dogs that will cross over probably number 3-5% more that we could attract. We would need 22% more and that must come from Independents which number about 40% legitimately. So she needs half. But she has three years to gather them into her fold.

Palin was viewed favorably by just 23% three months ago. Then that moved to 30%. This morning it is 45%. And she has just begun to fight. She has next year when she will campaign across the country and two years after that. That’s a lot of room for growth and she starts with great qualities. We will see what we see.

The following CBS graph was supposedly a bad picture of her popularity a few months ago. (And remember the liberal media will print lies if they have to. They will also call very carefully selected people and asked leading questions to get the results they want. And they will always print worse-case numbers.) So at first blush, this looks bad.

“ONLY 23% OF AMERICANS VIEW PALIN FAVORABLY,” they said.

Yes but – 20% said they hadn’t decided and 17% said they hadn’t heard enough. That’s not negative at all and in lieu of all the horrible things printed about her every day, it’s actually pretty reasonable.

Now they will have a chance to meet her and hear her over and over. Add tthet 23% to the 20% and the 17% and look what you have: you have 60% willing to be convinced!!!

More importantly with all the negative press, Sarah in this CBS poll was seen unfavorably by just 38% of the public. That could be 10% Blacks (90% of 12.5%) , 11% Hispanics (78% of 14.5%), and 6% radical leftists. But that’s the Democratic hard core base right now anyway Let’s assume the other 11% came from the 40% Independents. Even a few of those could be taken back.

Looking beyond the obvious I would say Sarah Palin took their best shots and is still standing and she is now ready and better prepared to hit back hard in the 2010 elections.

But she needs money to tour the country on behalf of candidates we want in office.
Therefore, all her supporters need to send money to her PAC. $10 or $15 bucks each would be enough if everyone did it. Say $15 now and $15 in three months. Everyone can afford that. Spread the word. Her Pac address follows.

This would give her 300 MILLION dollars and if money is what Obama used to electe himself, Sarah can do even better for her candidates because she is a genuine leader, a good person, an example of a strong, experienced, capable politician and very likable. Plus she is a true American patriot. Wait and see. This battle has just begun and she withstood the first huge barrage – what do they have to hit her with now? Sarah is not only still standing but stronger than she ever was. Don’t be deceived. As she campaigns, as she toughens up, she will start hitting back harder and harder and she is going to energize the Obama opposition like we haven’t seen for years. .

Sarah Palin has just completed Round 1 of a 10 round bout. She took some good shots but she is still standing. Now someone is in for a hell of a shock.

I sent a small donation and I will send another. Everyone should send a few bucks. This is the woman of the hour. Spread the word. Invest in Sarah and she will re-invest your money in America!

What a symbol. What a bumper sticker. That banner with the flag and the serpent with Sarah’s head. lol. Think that would be too much? “DON’T TREAD ON ME!”

Unlike you, I think our fight has just begun.

WAIT UNTIL THE LEFT SEES WHAT IS IN STORE FOR THEM FROM THE LADY FROM ALASKA!

They ain’t seen nothing yet!

Here’s where you send your money!

Baby Boomers Guide to Diabetes

Friday, November 20th, 2009

byb-medication chart-dreamstime_8337833[1]

By BoomerYearbook.com

According to the Centers for Disease Control, members of America’s “Baby Boomer” generation accounted for over half of all visits to the doctor during 2001. Here is some useful information to learn more about this metabolic disease.

·What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is described as the syndrome of disordered metabolism, usually due to a combination of hereditary and environmental causes, resulting in abnormally high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia). The hormone insulin made in the beta cells of the pancreas controls the Blood glucose levels.

·What are the types of Diabetes?

Diabetes has mainly two types: Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes.

With Type 1 diabetes, insulin is simply not available. A person’s immune system attacks the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas hence, could not produce insulin for the body. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease and is sometimes called immune-mediated diabetes. Factors that can trigger an immune reaction include viruses, toxic chemicals and certain drugs. Genetic makeup may also be implicated, for Type 1 diabetes often runs in families, and it is most common among Caucasians.

With Type 2 diabetes, the body makes insulin but usually not enough. Moreover, the cells are reluctant to let insulin in – a condition called insulin resistance. Among non-Caucasians, the genetic factor is even stronger but with greater occurrence. And among the most affected are the Australian Aborigines and Native-Americans.

·Diabetes Treatment

A member of American Diabetes association commented, “There’s no diabetes that’s not bad. It’s all serious.”

Why Serious? – Diabetes has been called “a disorder of the very engine of life”, and for good reason. When the body cannot metabolize glucose, a number of vital mechanisms can break down, sometimes with life-threatening consequences.

There is hope for those who are affected with Diabetes, if they recognize the seriousness of the disorder and submit to a program of treatment.

Scientists are studying genetic risk factors in persons with Type 1 Diabetes, and are trying to find ways to suppress an immune attack. With Type 2 Diabetes patients, there is a brighter side because many of those who are genetically susceptible avoid showing any sign of this disease simply by eating balanced diet and exercising regularly, thereby staying physically fit and keeping their weight with normal limits.

Insulin therapy is also recommended for those with Diabetes. It is a must to supplement their diet and exercise program with daily testing of glucose levels along with multiple insulin injections.

·Complications
Complications include heart disease, stroke, poor kidney function, peripheral arterial disease, and nerve damage. Poor blood supply to the feet can lead to ulcers, which in severe cases require amputation of the affected limb. Diabetes is also the most frequent cause of blindness among adults.

Based on further studies, physicians have concluded that diabetes is not only a disease of the baby boomer but also a “disease of the young”. The average age for the onset of diabetes is indeed dropping. Ten years ago, Diabetes was not present in people under 40, now it is present in young people under 10. This is sometimes caused by genetic predisposition, but weight and environment may also play a role. A study showed that a number of obese children have doubled in the past two decades.

Do you know a 10 year-old child suffering from this condition? Or are you a baby boomer yourself fighting against the complications of Diabetes? Share your ideas, thoughts and experience with others at Boomer Yearbook.

Anxiety and Fear Reduction

By BoomerYearbook.com

Bomb blasts, economic slowdown, job layoffs, road accidents, murders, and kidnappings are just some of the words mentioned in newspapers almost everyday. It’s hardly surprising then that living in anxiety and fear has become a part of life for many of us. We fear the worst, spend countless hours worrying about our loved ones, and imagine ourselves in the worst situations. Why? It isn’t something we like doing, but these thoughts seem to come naturally to many among of us.

Imagine a day free of worry, fear and anxiety, imagine laughing without for a moment wondering how long it would last, and imagine going to work without thinking about deadline pressure, annual targets or your job security. Doesn’t it sound wonderful? Your life can be filled with such lovely days, if you try to let go of anxiety and fear.

How to let go?

Understand the futility of fear and anxiety

People justify their habit of worrying or fearing the worst in different ways. To some it’s a defense mechanism. They feel that if they worry enough, they can prevent the worst from happening. There are others who justify their anxiety by calling it a way of being prepared for the worst, a way of life or simply a hard habit to break. If you can identify with any of these thought processes, try the following exercise:

· Take a piece of paper and write down everything that you fear or are anxious about now

· Now think a little and write down everything that you feared or were anxious about in the past

Chances are that both your lists will be similar

Now ask yourself what has worrying in the past done for you? Did it stop some events from happening? Did it make some threats disappear? Could you make some of your fears disappear with your anxiety?

This exercise will teach you the futility of fear and anxiety. Repeat this exercise every time fear and anxiety start getting the better of you.

Affirmations

Positive affirmations can help you dispel fear and anxiety from your life forever. The logic is simple; your beliefs depend upon your conditioning. Whatever you are told repeatedly becomes your truth. For instance, if you were told since childhood that you are ugly, then no matter how beautiful you may be you’d start viewing yourself as ugly. Similarly if you keep repeating something to yourself over and over, with time, it will become your belief and your truth. So, every time you feel fear and anxiety taking over your mind, start affirming to yourself, “I am safe and I trust life”. Do this easy affirmation for as long as it takes for you to feel calm again.

Psychological counseling or therapy

In some cases chronic fear or anxiety is the result of a past event or childhood trauma. For instance, if you lost a loved one as a child, were witness to a terrible incident in childhood, or were abused, chances are that fear and anxiety would get so deeply entrenched in your subconscious that you may need psychological counseling or therapy to be able to function normally.

It’s important to remember that fear and anxiety are creations of the mind and we have the power to destroy the thoughts we create.

Are you forgetful?

By BoomerYearbook.com

Sally, a housewife in her late 50’s was astounded when she heard from her husband, Alfie, a foreman of one of South Africa’s gold mines that he wanted to retire. Alfie was only 56 years old, and is such a clever and hardworking guy. Later, Sally found out from her husband’s fellow workers that Alfie had started to make strange errors in judgment. They often covered him up.

After Alfie retired, the couple bought a hotel. Since Alfie was handy, they thought he would keep busy fixing the place, but instead, he always called in a handyman. That same year, the couple took their three-year old granddaughter for a holiday at the beach. She loved to play on the trampoline just across the road from their apartment they stayed in. One afternoon, Alfie took her to jump on the trampoline and said they would be back in half an hour. By 7pm, they had not returned, Sally got worried and she phoned the police but they were not able to locate Alfie and the little girl. At noon the next day, there was a knock on the door. When Sally opened it, there stood Alfie with their granddaughter in his arm. They were lost from across the road and Sally’s friend found them and directed them to the right apartment.

After this incident, Sally took Alfie to a neurologist, who certified that he was suffering from dementia (loss of intellectual function). As it turned out, Alfie had Alzheimer’s disease, for which there is as yet no effective treatment or cure.

What is Alzheimer’s disease (AD)?

Although research into a number of possible causes is being done, the actual cause of AD remains unknown. However, it is known that AD involves the gradual destruction of brain cells, so that parts of the brain may literally shrink. The parts worst affected are those involved in memory and thinking ability. Cells in the brain system involved in the emotions are affected early in the disease, resulting in personality changes.

Typically, the disease lasts from 5 to 10 years – but sometimes more than 20 years. As it progresses, victims are able to do less and less. Eventually, they may even fail to recognize their loved ones. In the final stage, sufferers often become bedridden and cannot speak or feed themselves. However, many victims die from other causes before reaching these final stages.

What are the symptoms of having Alzheimer’s disease?

Memory lost is the first symptom of AD. Having some short-term memory lost when a person is in his 60’s and 70’s is common, and some people with mild memory problems will go on to develop Alzheimer’s disease. Some of these signs include forgetting recently learned information like names and phone numbers; difficulty performing familiar tasks, such as cooking a meal; disorientation as to time and place, like where you live on your street; and poor or decreased judgment.

Is there a cure for Alzheimer’s disease?

While there is not yet a cure for AD, there is much that can be done to maintain quality of life, and help the person stay active. Medicines called cholinesterase inhibitors may be started as soon as Alzheimer’s disease is diagnosed. Cholinesterase inhibitors may slow the progression of symptoms; they do not prevent the disease from getting worse. Another medicine called memantine (Namenda) may be used alone or with cholinesterase inhibitors to treat moderate to severe symptoms of confusion and memory loss caused by Alzheimer’s disease.

AD is named after Alois Alzheimer, a German physician who first described the disease in 1906 after doing an autopsy on a patient who had suffered from severe dementia. AD is thought to account for more than 60 percent of dementia cases, affecting up to 1 in 10 people over 65 years of age.

Tips to Reduce Cholesterol Levels

You may find it hard to find food items which are equally good for your heart as well as your taste buds. The fact is that there are countless food items which can serve the purpose of reducing cholesterol levels. And you surely won’t get bored with them as we are going to provide you with a variety of cholesterol reducing great tasting foods. First and foremost however, before embarking on a cholesterol reducing diet, it is advisable to consult with your physician or health care professional as she is most familiar with your personal health history and best suited to determine the factors that will most accommodate your specific needs.

Cholesterol is present in all of us. It’s a vital functional component of the body and the body couldn’t work properly without it. The real problem emerges when the bad cholesterol or low-density lipoprotein levels in the body increase and build up in the arterial walls and join with other body substances to form plaque. This is the time when you should look for ways to control it or else it may lead to serious ailments like heart disease or a stroke. This bad cholesterol plaque has a tendency to stick in the walls of the arteries which narrows the arterial walls causing them to become clogged or clotted, leaving you more vulnerable to atherosclerosis. This in turn results in a decreased supply of blood to the heart and brain resulting in serious and potentially life threatening consequences.

The best way to control and maintain healthy cholesterol levels is by keeping a check on your eating habits. Eating healthy is what matters most. You should begin by supplementing your diet by adding many varieties and increasing quantities of delicious fresh fruits and green vegetables. These foods work wonders to clean arteries and help develop ‘good” cholesterol levels. Also remember to avoid fat saturated or creamy, “soggy” foods. A lifestyle change is never an easy task, but once attained, you will start noticing a considerable change for the better in decreased cholesterol levels and increased health. The reward you get in return for the small sacrifice of eliminating health destroying foods is truly priceless.

It is always advisable to consult a dietitian before planning dietary changes. The dietitian can assess your current eating habits and unhealthy cholesterol levels, and customize your food chart making it interestingly varied and tailored to your personal tastes and specific requirements.

Beaming Boomer

Gone are the days when a person can eat a scoop of ice cream where the jiggling effects to our behind go unnoticed. Metabolism plays an important role in keeping the body in shape. Unfortunately so, as a person loses his youth so does his speedy metabolism. Metabolic rate slows down with age; the only way to combat the continuous increase in girth is some lifestyle modification.

·Eat right. You are what you eat. Eating the right food can make or break a day’s worth of activities. Energy giving foods packed with the essential nutrients is beneficial to anybody young or old. When shopping for foods try to get as much greens into your daily diet. Head out to your local farmers’ market and get your helping of fruits and vegetables. Try to avoid salty and fatty foods as much as possible, processed foods have often lost some of the nutrients compared to its fresh counterparts minus the preservatives and flavourings normally added to these foods to make it palatable. Try to plan your meals when you do your shopping. Shop for a week load of fruits and vegetables, this way you avoid eating straight from a can or foil. You’ll be snacking healthier before you can say “double cheese burger with large fries.”

·Physical activity. Maintaining physical activity as a person age is required to keeping the blood flowing in the veins, a sedentary lifestyle will not only weaken the body but the mind as well. Try to keep yourself busy with a hobby or sport you once longed to do. Now is the best time to indulge yourself in these activities now that you have the time. Brisk walking is not so hard to do, take your dog for a walk and spend an afternoon in a park or beach. Keeping an active mind is proven to decrease the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

·Sleep properly. Having a good nights’ sleep will help the body repair and get rid of the toxins accumulated during the day. You will also be more energetic and alert with a restful sleep.

·Check-ups. Early detection will lead to early cure, the sooner we know there are concerns we have with our health, the better. The most effective treatment can be adjudged to us the earlier the sooner we know of any concerns. Visit and have a talk with your doctor if something is bothering you. It is better to be careful than sorry.

With the so many things our aging boomers are to do, it does not have to stop the moment we stop working. With less concern on your careers in mind you can enjoy your life and give it more meaning by doing the things you love and enjoy. These tips will hopefully help you in enjoying the things you like longer.

The Spinning Girl – A Way to Test Your Brain Supremacy

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Spinning-Girl-Clean-Animated-Nudge

By BoomerYearbook.com

If there’s one fun and easy way to know whether you use more of your left brain or your right brain, then it’s the spinning girl. Just one among plenty of popular optical illusions (virtual ones – because you really can’t have a spinning girl on paper), the spinning girl is actually a silhouette of a nude girl/dancer who’s turning. Whether clockwise or counter-clockwise is all up to you. Sounds puzzling? Read on.

As optical illusions go, you can either see her spinning clockwise or counter-clockwise. So what does this have to do with your left or right brain? Well, the determining factor of the spinning direction that you see is the part of the brain you use the most.

This means that if you see the girl turning clockwise – you’re using more of the right side of your brain. If you are, you are among those people who use more of the right side of the brain.. This means usually using feeling rather than logic, among other characteristics. You tend to look at the big picture rather than small details, and because imagination is usually vivid, you always look, find and use symbols and images instead of words and language. Fantasy based, you also appreciate many things and believe in a lot of things rather than think critically about them. Right brained people are usually risk takers and impetuous.

If you look at the spinning girl and see her spinning counter clockwise, that means that you use more of the left side of the brain. Functions of the left brain would be using logic instead of feeling, and paying attention to details instead rather than the big picture. Left brain oriented people use words and language rather than symbols and images, and most often prefer or are better at mathematics than philosophy and arts. You most probably would be reality based, practical, strategic and safe.

Whether you initially see the spinning girl turning either clockwise or counter – clockwise, the other this doesn’t mean that you will never be able to see her spinning in the opposite direction. A little focus on the silhouette (or on her shadow), and voila! You’ll be surprised to see that she’s already spinning the other way.

How to Forgive and Move On

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

byb-forgiving-wipe the slate clean-dreamstime_6521532[1]By BoomerYearbook.com

In life we often come across people who hurt us, lie to us, cheat us and sometimes even break our hearts. Often we move on, but are unable to forgive and forget. We carry the pain in our heart and don’t let the emotional scars heal. The reason probably is, that for some reason we often view forgiveness as condoning someone’s hurtful act or behavior. In fact some people even view not forgiving as a form of passive revenge. What we don’t realize is that by holding on to old grudges we are only harming ourselves.

Why would a person who showed blatant disregard for our feelings or welfare, care about our forgiveness? Holding hatred or anger against such a person is not going to affect him/her in any way. That doesn’t leave much scope for revenge, does it?

Forgiveness doesn’t mean condoning someone’s actions either. By forgiving you are not saying that it’s alright for someone to hurt or harm you, by forgiving you are only breaking the negative karmic connection that you have formed with the person who hurt you. It’s like saying, “you’ don’t affect me anymore, I refuse to think about you, you hold no importance in my life, and I forgive you for what you did, because you didn’t know any better.” What’s important to understand is that forgiveness is an act of self-love; it’s something that you do for your own good.

How to forgive?

Understand how “not forgiving” can harm you

Holding on to old hurts and resentment can lead to psychological problems like depression, loneliness, extreme cynicism, prolonged anger, high blood pressure, heart diseases and many other long term health problems. If someone attacked you, your natural reaction would be to protect yourself from harm; you wouldn’t turn around and inflict more pain or hurt upon yourself. So by that logic, if someone hurts you, protect yourself from more harm by forgiving that person.

Forgiveness exercises

The following forgiveness exercises may be able to help you start your process of healing:

Write the name of the person you are angry with on a piece of paper. Next write down why you are angry with them, pour you heart out, write everything that you feel about this person. When you are done, write that you forgive them because you do not want them to affect you anymore. Now burn this paper, watch the flames devour all your anger and hurt. Try this self hypnosis exercise. Sit down in a comfortable position and breathe deeply. Focus on you breathing. Imagine that with every in-breath you are taking in light and energy and with every out-breath you are exhaling all your stress. Repeat this process for 4-5 minutes or until you start feeling sufficiently calm. Now picture that the person who hurt you is standing in front of you, imagine a white chord connecting the two of you. Look at this person in eye and speak you mind out, scream at them, abuse them, release all your bottled up emotions. Once you are done, mentally break the white chord connecting you with this person. Repeat this exercise once a week, till you feel you’ve finally broken the negative connection between you and the person who hurt/harmed you. In some cases of deep anger, you may want to avail yourself of help from a trained counselor or therapist. Sometime bitterness or anger can cloud your judgment and make you extremely resistant to the idea of forgiving someone who hurt you. In such cases the counselor may help you reach a stage of reconciliation by making you see the other person’s perspective. However, if you were assaulted, attacked or abused by someone, reconciliation is not an option. In these cases the counselor or therapist can help you start your healing process.

Forgiveness is an act of self-kindness. Remember forgiveness does not mean excusing someone nor justifying their act, neither does it mean being passive and not fighting for justice. Forgiveness only means moving on with life, it means giving yourself the gift of peace and tranquility.

By BoomerYearbook.com

For a large number of us, our cats and dogs are our best friends. Many of us couldn’t imagine life without them and consider and treat our four legged friends as a cherished family member, giving them equal treatment and care as we do our two legged loved ones. Some people are so emotionally attached to their pets that they even celebrate their birthdays and other occasions. since pet lovers like to keep their pets with them as much as possible, here are some great advice to Making Your Apartment Pet Friendly.

Many apartment landlords regard pets as nothing more than a nuisance that should be avoided. Landlords worry that pets can damage the apartment and/ or may pose a health problem or bother and disturb other tenants. Therefore, as a pet owner, you are well advised to do some research to counteract possible Landlord objections to pets. In today’s times it is not hard to look for some pet friendly apartment. Both you and your pet will feel comfortable in such dwellings because the pet would be able to move freely here and there and there will be other pet owning tenants to provide company for you and your pet.

These kinds of apartments are not hard to find and they provide complete care for the pet at a nominal extra charge per month. These pet friendly apartments have enough space for your pet to run and walk, they also have pet playgrounds and entertainment areas like dog runs and exercising facilities. The personal touch is slowly dying off among the echo boomers due to the alienation brought about by technology. Social skills are at a risk of dying off.

This article seeks to preserve some of those social skills by providing tips to echo boomers on how to ask for a first date.

Get to know each other

The first step is to make acquaintance with the other person. The fact that you attend the same sociology class does not necessarily mean that the other person knows you. You should get in their radar. Offer compliments regularly. This will reel in your target.

Seek Commonalities

The next step is to start talking and finding out more about each other. You could ask the other person’s opinion on current events around the world, their hobbies, likes and dislikes. Be alert to any opening that may present itself for you to ask for a date.

Do it the old fashioned way

In as much as sending a text might seem like a sure way of avoiding the much dreaded rejection, avoid the temptation and ask her face to face. If this is not possible due to one reason or another, then sending her a Facebook friend request might be a good option.

Drop subtle hints

Find out the other person’s opinion about a movie that is about to premier or a band that is about to launch a CD. If their interest is the same as yours, you can leverage the opportunity by suggesting you go watch the premier together.

Ask in Advance

If your venue for your first date is to be an annual social event, make sure that you ask for the date way in advance. This will assure your date that he/she was the first choice. Asking for a first time date on the eve of such an event or a few hours just before the event begins is a turn off to the other person. They might take it that you are looking for a rebound date.

Asking in advance will provide your date with enough time to plan and prepare for the date.
